Teaching Philosophy

Whether you are the parent of a small child looking to begin Suzuki Cello lessons, a high school student, an adult amateur, or something in between, I provide a supportive, positive and fun environment in which to learn.

My goal as a teacher is to foster well-rounded and disciplined artists who positively contribute to the community around them.  Students must have the tools to communicate their unique musical voice to others.  No matter the ultimate goal of the student, I aim to build a strong and relaxed technique, knowledge of music history and theory, an eagerness for improvement, and enthusiasm for music making.  The freedom of communication between student and teacher is of the highest priority since each student has different aspirations in music.

Serving as a role model, I expect students to approach their lessons with respect, discipline, persistence, and patience.  In other words, music students are athletes - you must train daily to be ready and fit for performance and enjoyment of playing.  Success is a guarantee if we work together and you do your daily workouts!

Please refer to my bio to learn more about my qualifications.  My students are active in area youth orchestras and programs and perform frequently.  A resume or CV can also be sent upon request - please contact me.
